Interoperating Context Discovery Mechanisms
نویسندگان
چکیده
Context-Aware applications adapt their behaviour to the current situation of the user. This information, for instance user location and user availability, is called context information. Context is delivered by distributed context sources that need to be discovered before they can be used to retrieve context. Currently, multiple context discovery mechanisms exist, exhibiting heterogeneous capabilities (e.g. communication mechanisms, and data formats), which can be available to context-aware applications at arbitrary moments during the application’s lifespan. In this paper, we discuss a middleware mechanism that enables a (mobile) context-aware application to interoperate transparently with different context discovery mechanisms available at run-time. The goal of the proposed mechanism is to hide the heterogeneity and availability of context discovery mechanisms for context-aware applications, thereby facilitating their development.

The role of Gamification in Knowledge Sharing using Grounded Theory and MAXQDA Qualitative Modeling
Background and Aim: Today, knowledge is essential to the survival and success of any organization. Given that they are the people who create, share and use knowledge, an organization cannot effectively use knowledge unless its employees are willing to share their knowledge and attract knowledge of others. On the other hand, Gamification involves combining the usual mechanisms in the games with ...
متن کاملDependency analysis via network measurements
ABSTRACT Large scale computer networks consist of a vast number of interoperating services. Often, the interchange between those services is not documented leading to a variety of issues. Network dependency analysis aims to automate service dependency discovery. In this work several different approaches to network dependency analysis, ranging from active to passive approaches, will be introduce...

Research in database interoperability has primarily focused on circumventing schematic and semantic incompatibility arising from autonomy of the underlying databases. We argue that, while existing integration strategies might provide satisfactory support for small or static systems, their inadequacies rapidly become evident in large-scale interoperable database systems operating in a dynamic en...
متن کاملRecent developments in Pseudomonas biocontrol mechanisms
Fluorescent pseudomonads are an effective source of biological control that have high adaptive power and able to produce a wonderful source of secondary metabolites. Antibiotics such as phenazines, diacetylphloroglucinol, and hydrogen cyanide are produced by certain taxonomic groups of the genus Pseudomonas and appear to be ancestral. These compounds often play a physiological role in the produ...
متن کاملInteroperating Learning Mechanisms in a Cognitive Architecture
People acquire new knowledge in various ways and this helps them to adapt to changing environment properly. In this paper, we investigate the interoperation of multiple learning mechanisms within a single system. We extend a cognitive architecture, ICARUS, to have three different modes of learning. Through experiments in a modified Blocks World and a route generation domain, we test and demonst...
